Here are three great recipes for delicious Chicken Maryland:

Easy to cook

Great for a home cooked meal. It takes only 40 minutes to prepare. Use store bought white sauce or cream sauce to save time.

Great for Kids
Fried Chicken Maryland with pineapples and bananas usually go down well with kids. For a healthier option, try the baked Chicken Maryland.

 

Types of Oats
rolled oats

Rolled Oats: Oats thats have been rolled and dried. They take about 15-20 minutes to cook.

Quick-cooking oats: Rolled oats which are cut into even smaller pieces and rolled extra thin. They cook much more quickly, in about 5-7 minutes.

Instant oats: Oats that have been cooked with flavorings, then dried. These behave very differently as compared to quick-cooking oats, and should not be used to bread the Chicken.

Baked Chicken Maryland (healthier option) recipe

Ingredients

4 chicken wings or drumsticks
1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teasoon pepper, black

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper powder
2 eggs, beaten
2 cups breadcrumbs (seasoned, if available)
1 cup cornflakes, crushed (quick-cooking oats work too; but be sure to use the quick cooking variety or they won't bake through in the oven. Instant oatmeal won't work because they have a different texture)
2 tablespoons oil

Sides

Corn on the cob, mash potatoes, or fries

Cooking Directions

1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220 °C)
2. Mix flour, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper in a bowl (bowl A).
3. Crack the eggs into another bowl and beat them (bowl B).
4. Mix cornflakes, breadcrumbs and oil an another bowl (bowl C).

5. Dip each chicken piece into bowl A, then bowl B, then bowl C. Ensure each piece is thoroughly covered in the mix.
6. Bake in a try until golden brown. Depending ont he size of the chicken pieces, this usually takes about 25 to 35 minutes.
