Mrs W's all-time favorite Chicken Maryland recipes!

Here are three great recipes for delicious Chicken Maryland:

Easy to cook

Great for a home cooked meal. It takes only 40 minutes to prepare. Use store bought white sauce or cream sauce to save time.

Great for Kids
Fried Chicken Maryland with pineapples and bananas usually go down well with kids. For a healthier option, try the baked Chicken Maryland.


Types of Oats
rolled oats

Rolled Oats: Oats thats have been rolled and dried. They take about 15-20 minutes to cook.

Quick-cooking oats: Rolled oats which are cut into even smaller pieces and rolled extra thin. They cook much more quickly, in about 5-7 minutes.

Instant oats: Oats that have been cooked with flavorings, then dried. These behave very differently as compared to quick-cooking oats, and should not be used to bread the Chicken.

Fried Chicken Maryland with pineapples and bananas


2 chicken thighs, wings or breasts
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper, black
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme, or oregano, or sweet basil, or all three
1/4 teaspoon paprika, if available
2 cups flour
1 egg, beaten
2 cups breadcrumbs
Oil for deep frying

1 banana
2 pineapple rings

Cooking Directions

(Part A) Cooking the chicken
1. Mix the flour with salt, pepper, thyme (and/or orgeano, basil), paprika in a bowl
2. Dip the chicken thighs, wings or breasts into the flour mixture.
3. Then dip the chicken into the beaten egg.
4. Then dip the chicken into the breadcrumbs.
5. Heat oil in a deep fryer to 360°F (220 °C)
6. Fry the chicken until golden brown. This usually takes around 15-20 minutes, depending on the size and cut of chicken used.

(Part B) Making the friend bananas
7. Slice the banana in half, length wise.
8. Fry in deep fryer until golden.

(Part C) Making the friend pineapple rings
9. Pan fry pineapple rings in a pan with vegetable oil, until lightly browned or slightly charred. (light browning develops the flavor and gives a slightly crunchy texture)

Serves: 1 (for more people, just multiply the recipe by the number of people you want to serve)
